Dr. Sreedeep S obtained his Post Graduate and Ph.D Degrees in Geotechnical Engineering from IIT Bombay in the years 2002 and 2006 respectively and is presently Associate Professor in Civil Engineering Department at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. He is actively involved in teaching and research in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering. Some of his research focus at IIT Guwahati is in the behavior studies on unsaturated porous media, which is an emerging area of research in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering. His focus is on addressing some of the contradictory and anomalous behavior of unsaturated soil, thereby minimizing the uncertainties in unsaturated soil mechanics. This is important for the application of theory into practice of unsaturated soil principles. Another prominent area of research he has explored is engineered waste management, which is still at its infancy in developing country like India. He is also involved in designing and evaluating covers for shallow nuclear waste containment sites. He has recently developed a web course on “Geoenvironmental engineering” as part of National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), which is a Government of India initiative. He is also involved in finding solutions to some of the complex field problems relevant to north-eastern India. He is editorial board member of the Journal of Environmental Geotechnics, ICE, Thomas Telford and act as reviewer for more than 15 International Journals. His research work is published in reputed journals and conferences and he has published 43 Research Papers in national and international journals and 73 in national and international conference proceedings.
