Rauan E. Lukpanov
Dr. Lukpanov is an associate professor of L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Kazakhstan. From 2006 is a member of Kazakhstan Geotechnical Society (KGS), from 2010 is a member of ISSMGE, from 2014 is a vice-president of Kazakhstan chapter of the International Geosynthetic Society (KazGS). Dr. Rauan has a research experience in Alberta University (Edmonton, Canada), RWTH (Aachen, Germany) in 2007 and 2008. He has more than 100 journal and conference publications and one patent for invention. He is focusing his work on the promotion of geotechnical engineering in Kazakhstan; so that he had participated in development of Kazakhstan geotechnical standards and codes. He had opportunity to participated in scientific Projects, including Government grants regarding geosynthetic, pile foundation and it`s technologies, as well as sustainable energy. Dr. Rauan under the supervision of Prof. Askar Zhussupbekov organized more than 10 international geotechnical seminars and workshops (Paris, Hong Kong, Astana). One PhD, five master and fifteen bachelor students had successfully defended under his supervision. Dr. Rauan`s students are holders of the local and international prizes for the best students Projects and theses. Nowadays Dr. Rauan is an engineer in practice and supervised more than 100 geotechnical and civil engineering Projects, and this help him to introduce the students to the practical aspects of geotechnics and his connection with KGS and KazGS allow them to get acquainted the students with international geotechnical experiences.
